I couldn’t help it. I want more on my site than a simple weblog. Or at least I think I want more. Either way, I’m tinkering with ExpressionEngine over at jackbaty.com. That’ll probably get most of my attention for at least a few minutes so don’t look for a ton of updates here for the moment.
I’ve been listening to music via Pandora for much of today. Now there’s a Widget for Pandora which replaces the mini browser window. Now that little window won’t keep getting lost.
ExpressionEngine was never a feasible blogging option for me. It’s too expensive, especially with any number of free options available. Turns out they’re now offering the core system free, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. EE seems to be much more than a blogging tool. It’s also quite suited as a more general-purpose CMS. I’ll by trying it for both.
At lunch today, Ryan said he saw 10 seconds of the new King Kong trailer and could tell that they “…still haven’t gotten the physics right.” Speaking of movie physics, check this list of insultingly stupid movie physics. The site goes into great detail as to why movie physics are usually completely wrong. Pretty funny.
The Typo theme contest at typogarden.com is wrapping up. For fun, I grabbed Deco. A few minor tweaks and papa’s got a brand new bag. The best thing about themable web apps is I can shake things up every now and then without pretending to become a designer.
Aardvark is a killer Firefox extension which allows you to see how pages are created, one block at a time. There’s a slew of keyboard shortcuts once it’s running which you can use to drill down, remove elements, etc. It works as a nice complement to some of the features of the developer’s extensions you’re probably already using.
