I looked at my doc today and realized that the same half-dozen apps are almost always open. I thought I’d write a little about how I’ve been using each of them lately.
NovaMind NovaMind is a pure, lovely, and feature-rich mind mapping tool. After reading a few books and creating dozens of maps however, I’m using NovaMind less and less. It’s a great app, but I’m finding that the single largest benefit of mind mapping for me is the spacial organization.
Jackie Dove [Macworld] isn’t really a fan of instant messaging. I know how she feels.
The thing I finally figured out about chat is that chat imitates life. Either you’re a chatterer or you’re not.
The best thing Shaun Inman’s Mint has over the new Google Analytics is that Mint actually works. One of the few things Google releases without a “Beta” designation is so far, decidedly Beta.
So my little experiment with a Tumblelog was fun. However, it seems it is (was) pretty much universally disliked. Or I should say that folks enjoyed it less than my “normal” blog. Tell ya what I’m gonna do. I’m going to abandon the tumblelog and continue posting here. There, happy now?! See you soon.
I wonder how long it will be before Pirillo stops mentioning Ponzi every third sentence. Soon I’ll bet, unless he stops being such a… and I’ll go out on a limb and paraphrase her.. wuss.
I think I’ll try something a little different for a while.
The new blog address is jackbaty.com. That is where you’ll find me.
While I enjoy sharing things, I don’t like the writing part so much. Good grief, each and every little post needs a Title and its own private page with comments and trackbacks and all sorts of overhead. I don’t need that kind of pressure!
So instead I’ll be posting just the important bits of things like quotes, links, images, code, tips or whatever else strikes me.
It’s possible I might have enjoyed myself by renting something other than Hukkle tonight, but I doubt it. The film is Hungarian, although that doesn’t matter because it is almost entirely wordless so you won’t have to read anything. But you will listen to it, because the sound is amazing. And you won’t take your eyes from it because the visuals are stunning. And, although it moves rather slowly, you’ll pay attention because it’s breathtaking.
Would one of y’all buy me an Ambient Executive Dashboard please!? I’ve been avoiding it for months, but as we all know, I’m not very good at that. Hurry!
Clive Thompson (NYT) has a very interesting article about Life Hacking. The article actually only spends a portion on life hacking, and the remainder on the effect interruptions have on productivity. Good read.
