I’ve been using PHPetal for a few days now with very few problems. It’s time to let folks break it and send me complaints/feedback and such. So I’ve made it available for download. This is a very early version, so any bugs, feature suggestions or comments are more than welcome.
Download: phpetal-0_2.tgz
Update: The latest version will always be found on the downloads page
I’ve got an update to PHPetal available for download here. Guess we’ll call it version 0.3.
Changes are:
– Allows posting to nested categories – Added setting for default file suffix – Changed posting form title to something less annoying Thanks to Tony Williams for sending me a patch for allowing posts to nested categories.
There’s a new version of PHPetal. The major change is that it (optionally) pings weblogs.com after posting. I needed to add a couple new configuration settings in order to implement this. Anyone interested may download it here. Remember, this is still rather experimental, so please let me know () if you run into any problems.
No one seems to have found any serious issues with it, so download version 0.5 if
you feel up to it. Highlights: Optionally static-renders blosxom after
posting. Fixed a very annoying bug which caused quotes to be escaped
in posts.
I’ve got a version of PHPetal running which will ping weblogs.com after posting a story. This was one of the things missing from the blosxom “workflow.”
I’ll clean it up and post it for download soon.
There’s some interesting things beginning to happen in the world of PHPosxom
What at first I thought was a development fork,
seems to be turning into an interesting collaboration. It’s very
encouraging to hear so many references to the “Tao of *osxom”, which
is why I’ve been down with the whole concept in the first place.
I have a new build of PHPetal available here
Here’s a brief list of the changes…
Story is written using ‘w' rather that ‘a' mode.
Story text is wrapped to $maxlinelen before being written to disk.
Backslashes are stripped (using stripslashes()) if magic_quotes_gpc is
set.
Added system call which will “static render” the site using blosxom
after creating the story file
I’m not using blosxom, so if somecould spend a little time testing the
I’m working on a PHP app to assist in posting to blosxom-compatible weblogs. I know, I know, the whole point of blosxom is to use the file system. Sometimes though, it’s just easier to fill out a quick html form.
Features implemented:
Integrated image uploads Category selection (single level) Automatic (guessed) filenames Back-dating stories Discuss document.write("(" ct_19_WHSf “)");
I don’t know if it makes me feel better or not, but there seems to be
a bunch of folks who are having trouble getting work done. Not being
the only one doesn’t really help, but Jeremy [has noticed
it too]1.
I’m a switcher. Yep, been using Mozilla Firebird as my primary browser
for nearly a week with very few problems. It’s small, fast, extensible
and… oh don’t listen to me, here’s a nice [list of
reasons]1 why you too should switch.
