I love design and designers, except on the days following any well-known brand introducing a new design/logo/color, etc. Designers then lose their shit and seem to find it impossible to offer rational, coherent, or constructive criticism.
Joshua Topolsky, in an unabashedly clickbaity article:
Ok fine, Josh, I’m not going to argue with you. Lots of other people will do that. And many others will argue with them . And so on.
But also: Pot, meet Kettle.
I mean, have you looked at The Outline’s website? I love what they’re trying to do there, but wow what an affront to the senses.
I just love that the pull quote above is bordered by those tacky animated wiggly lines.
How many years are we going to continue saying, “Well, Apple is going to do something amazing with Siri and Homekit any day now.” I’m not seeing any signs of that happening. An over-priced speaker with an under-powered voice assistant certainly isn’t what I’ve been dreaming of. I’ve tried. I have a Series 2 Apple Watch, an Apple TV, an iPhone, newer Macs, and a number of “smart” devices. I try, but Siri kind of sucks.
